Morning All, We have a similar system to Steve. We also have small Candidate cards that we print from our MIS system (UNIT-e) ours are placed on the desk to identify students and they can also copy the info onto their answer sheets, centre no, candidate no etc. Once students have entered the exam rooms the invigilators collect in the candidate cards for the absences, the Head of Department would normally be in the room to collect them but we will now pass them on via our roving invigilator. The Heads of Department will just be waiting outside of the exam areas. They are credit card sized but when printed in colour the photos are clear. We have two sets, one in candidate number order for the desks and one alphabetically by surname, which are handed out as they enter the college on exam day. This tells them their name, date of birth, candidate and centre numbers as well as their room and seat number and can be used for identification purposes if they don’t have their ID card. We generated these in ProSolution for the last few years, but now we are using EBS I’m not sure if we will be able to do that this year….. We have also been spread in external venues, which has made it harder. So, there was a senior member of staff identifying who was missing at the allocated venue, and 2 members of staff phoning the students. Senior invigilator and Exams officer only opened the papers after the subject staff left the room. Once papers were opened, they were not allowed back in, although they waited outside to direct latecomers to a late room. This worked very well for us, hope this helps. What do you do to identify missing students when you have multiple exam rooms on the go? By the time the external invigilators are in a position to let the exams office know that there are students who haven’t turned up it’s too late to have a realistic chance of contacting them and getting them in before the 10.00 am and 2.30 pm cut off. We’ve always relied on senior staff from the subject being examined to manage this and not really sure what we’re going to do now. This year they’ve added ‘and who have not had overall responsibility for the candidates preparation for the examination(s)’. Do we assume that rules out Heads of Department from assisting with the identification of students etc.?
