Unless you use the information in the visitors' book in some unpredictable way I would be inclined to argue "reasonable expectations" and leave it at that. Somewhere buried in your long (and getting longer) full privacy statement you could put in a paragraph about the visitors' book if you really want to.

Would anyone on the list be able to share any advice on ensuring compliance for visitor books, etc. please? Clearly such are used for collecting some personal information. Do they therefore need to include information on the use and retention of such info and obtain consent? There seems to be a mix of views online generally.
