CHAT 2017 —Heritage, Memory, Art, and Agency

3-5 November 2017

You can still register for the CHAT2017 conference!   The deadline for registration is on October 30th 2017

CHAT 2017 —Heritage, Memory, Art, and Agency— will explore the relationship between contemporary and historical archaeology and cultural memory narratives. We will take an interdisciplinary approach to artefacts and people, examining the agency of art, and how humans, material culture, and non-human actors interact to form identities, and to create, perpetuate, and or challenge social hierarchies, taboos, and a sense of place.

The conference will be hosted by Amsterdam School for Heritage, Memory and Material Culture (AHM). AHM is a dynamic, interdisciplinary and transnational research school that brings together researchers working in diverse areas including: Heritage and memory studies, Archaeology, Museum studies, Arts and Media, Conflict and Identity, Transnational and Intergenerational Memory, Digital Heritage and E-memory. The conference theme of Heritage, Art, Memory, and Agency reflects the interdisciplinary and international nature of the research school, and the desire to discuss ways in which contemporary and historical archaeology impact modern society.

The CHAT2017 conference will enhance international cooperation and cross-disciplinary fertilisation through close contacts to ongoing related research projects/institutes. CHAT 2017 will have a plenary programme and there will be ample opportunity for poster presentations, and informal discussion and networking.

The programme is available here.

Should you have any further questions regarding the transportation, accommodation, or registration and payment, please do not hesitate to contact: [log in to unmask]
