Pioneers seeks to foster creativity and collaboration surrounding key challenges in human-robot interaction and empower students early in their academic careers. Each year, the workshop brings together a cohort of the world's top student researchers and provides the opportunity for students to present and discuss their work with distinguished student peers and senior scholars in the field. Pioneers is a premier forum for graduate students in HRI, thus we invite students at any stage of their academic career to consider applying. To facilitate attendance, we expect to provide financial support to accepted students to help mitigate the costs of the workshop and main conference -------------SUBMISSION An anonymized, two-page description of the applicant's past, current, or proposed work. Word and LaTeX templates can be found here <http://www.acm.org/publications/proceedings-template> – please use the sample-sigconf.tex or ACM_SigConf.docx files In particular, the abstract should cover: - key research questions/motivation of the applicant's work - background and related work that informs the research - the research approach and methodology - results to date (if any), and a description of remaining work. For undergraduate students, description of work on a previous project with clear ties to the field and potential implications would be permissible. For graduate students, applications should include past work if applicable, as well as current and future research plans. Publications should be fully anonymized at the time of submission. Following are the guidelines for submission, - make an account, if you do not currently have one, - go to the 'Submissions' tab, and from the drop-down menus, select SIGCHI as the society, HRI 2018 as the conference, and HRI 2018 Pioneers Workshop as the track, - hit 'Go', and a new submission will show up as incomplete. Similar to this <http://www.hripioneers.info/hri18/img/submission_page_example.png>, - edit the submission, and fill out the form until the submission shows up as complete. A 2-page CV will be required as part of the submission process. Undergraduate students without laboratory experience can include coursework or skills that are relevant to their project. Graduate students should include laboratory experience and any publications/presentations that are applicable. -----------TARGET AUDIENCE AND TOPICS Students of all levels pursuing research in a field related to Human-Robot interaction should consider applying. Undergraduate and Graduate level students will be considered in separate tracks.
