Dear Mailbase,

We are moving to reporting estimated monomeric prolactin rather than % recovery for our macroprolactin PEG screen results. I have been trying to establish a reference range for estimated monomeric prolactin with Randox Immunoassay IQC material (Level 3) but am struggling to get reproducible results. I was wondering what material other labs use as IQC for the macroprolactin assay, as perhaps there is a matrix effect with the Randox material – sure it’s does not contain ‘true’ macroprolactin!

Any thoughts much appreciated.

Many thanks,

Emma Tuddenham
