It is with great sadness that I report the death of Hans Pacejka on 17th September. Hans was a giant in the field of vehicle dynamics and a specialist in tyre mechanics. He is perhaps best known for his development of the ‘magic formula’ tyre model. Hans was an emeritus professor at Delft University of Technology and was Secretary General of the International Association of Vehicle System Dynamics for many years. He will be badly missed by the vehicle dynamics community.
