Hi Sam,

I would recommend you contact the Association for Science Education, who provide PLI for their members.  Their memberships is mostly aimed at teachers and science technicians, but you can also become an Associate Member for just £45, which is what I have done.

I also do rocket-making in schools, though I don't use pyrotechnics or other dangerous things like you :)
