Our Library is currently undertaking significant stock moves, including the transfer of a large volume of ‘relegated’ stock from our outstore into the University Library for assessment and integration into the our main sequence. This includes many pre-1900 volumes, some of which form part of major early donations and bequests to the institution shortly after we were founded in 1921.

I would be very grateful to any colleagues who would be willing to share their own policies and guidelines for the transfer of print materials to Special Collections. My aim is to develop a revised collections management policy for print material in Special Collections, supported by some practical guidelines on when items should be referred to Special Collections. I’m aware of the ACRL guidelines, which provide a very useful starting point.

Best wishes,

Simon
