Well, that was quick! Thanks very much to everybody who replied.

 

The overwhelming consensus was that Mailchimp was the best and easiest way to go. Easy to use and free if you have less than 2, 000 subscribers (we do).

 

A couple of people mentioned it is blocked in some trusts/boards which may or may not be specific to Scotland.

 

I had heard of it but I had no it could be used to capture usage data, so this was really useful for me and  maybe other people in the future.
