Join us at Senate House London, in partnership with the University of Warwick's Yesu Persaud Centre for Caribbean Studies, to mark the centenary of the abolition of indenture in the British Empire. This conference features a joint-keynote by three early-career researchers: Dr Reshaad Durgahee, Gitanjali Pyndiah and Dr Kavyta Raghunandan. We host additional guest speakers Grace Anezia Ali, Jonathan Phang, Prof. David Dabydeen, Dr Nalini Mohabir, Dr Atreyee Phukan, Prof. Clem Seecharan, Prof. Brinsley Samaroo and Dr Anna Schultz.

The conference will also incorporate two evening events; the University of Warwick's inaugural Gafoor Lecture in Indentureship Studies and a literary panel on the literature of indenture and its legacies titled Writing the Literature of Indenture and its Legacies. This panel features readings by authors Ananda Devi (Mauritius), Gaiutra Bahadur (Guyana), Lakshmi Persaud (Trinidad), Mary Rokanadravu (Fiji) and Agnes Sam (South Africa).
