SCIENCE MUSEUM LIBRARY & ARCHIVE COLLECTIONS

The Science Museum’s world-class library and archive collections chart the world-wide development and history of science, engineering and medicine from the fifteenth to the twenty-first century. Original printed works include books, journals, patents, trade literature, directories and maps in English and other European languages. The archives hold original records of some of the most famous and influential individuals and companies in the fields of science, medicine, engineering and industry. Some books and journals are available at the Dana Research Centre and Library in London, but nearly all of the collections are stored at the Science Museum’s Wroughton facility, near Swindon and selected items can be transported to the library in London for consultation there.

The Science Museum opened its splendid new Dana Research Centre and Library at 165 Queens Gate, London SW7 5HD, to researchers and the public in November 2015. This marked the culmination of over two and half years of work to create a world-class library facility. In a beautiful design by Coffey Architects, the new Centre provides a relaxing and inspirational atmosphere for visitors to use our collections for learning and research.
