Subject: South East Scotland Archaeological Research Framework: Workshops

SESARF Part 2 Workshop – Now Live!

Wed 25th October at The Edinburgh Quaker Meeting House

South East Scotland Archaeological Research Framework (SESARF). Covers the local authority areas of the City of Edinburgh, East Lothian, Midlothian and the Scottish Borders. Led by the South East Scotland Archaeology Partnership (SESAP, namely East Lothian Council, City of Edinburgh Council, and Scottish Borders Council) and project managed by Wessex Archaeology Scotland. Began in June 2017 and due to complete by June 2019.

SESARF is now underway and in order to establish key themes and elements for inclusion within the South East Scotland Archaeological Research Framework a series of three workshops have been scheduled to target different sectors within the archaeological community. This is the second of the three and will be aimed at:

·         Museums, Attractions

·         Conservation and

·         Curatorial Bodies

The aim of these workshops is to be as inclusive as possible and to allow everyone with an interest in the archaeology and heritage of the area to have an input in the Research Framework. We also want to establish a Working Group who will commit to providing specific content and expertise over the next 18 months or so. We are particularly keen on welcoming early career researchers to contribute to the framework.

The workshops will each be one-day events broken into two sessions, that of Looking Backwards in the mornings to discuss what the known archaeological and heritage of the areas are and then Looking Forwards sessions in the afternoon to consider what we would like to focus research for the areas on.

The workshops are free to attend with tea, coffee and lunch provided. If you would like to come along, please register via the link provided: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/o/sesap-and-wessex-archaeology-15029840541

Please also feel free to pass this information among your colleagues and departments to anyone who may be interested in getting involved. We look forward to seeing you there.
