Hi GEM-ers,

Lest there be anyone with an interest in researching Scottish material in museums that wants to contribute/be involved with a new research framework being produced by the Scottish Archaeological Research Framework, see below. Feel free to pass on to any other museum colleagues too, outwith the GEM list.

Many thanks

Anna

Behind the scenes at ScARF we have been busy working on our collections based Farming and Fishing research frameworks. We are now actively seeking those archaeologists and museums staff with research interests in those two fields and who would be interested in reviewing and commenting on the structure and content of the frameworks. As our MGS/HES funded work on this particular aspect of ScARF has used local authority museum collections in Orkney and Aberdeenshire we are particularly keen to hear from people working in those areas of Scotland.

If you are interested please get in touch - we aren't asking for written contributions (unless you want to!) and nothing would be being sent for comment until the end of 2017 and beyond so plenty of time for you to think how/if you might like to get involved.

There are some other good posts written for the event from across Scotland and about Scottish archaeology, the best way to find them is to search for 'Scotland' or 'Scottish' on the Day of Archaeology website.

The 'Our Islands, Our Past' conference, organised by UHI, takes place in Kirkwall, Orkney from the 15th to the 17th of next month. The opening session of the conference is a roundtable on the subject of a possible three island regional archaeological research framework<http://scottishheritagehub.us11.list-manage1.com/track/click?u=045457e56db3e5455f8068512&id=96c98e1375&e=a2e5b9a1d5> for Shetland, Orkney and the Western Isles. If you are attending the conference and have an active interest in archaeological research in the area then we would urge you to attend. Please note that the roundtable is not being organised by ScARF or the Society of Antiquaries, and so any questions should be sent to the organisers at the address on the website.
