Join us for an afternoon of engaging presentations and critical conversations followed by a networking drinks reception and the opportunity to visit the display
Julian Opie After Van Dyck.
Inspired by the Van Dyck self-portrait acquired by the Gallery for the nation in 2014, the National Portrait Gallery is marking the culmination of an ambitious three-year national
programme of learning and participation projects across seven venues with a seminar for sector colleagues.
The afternoon includes presentations by artists, museum & gallery professionals from cultural institutions across the country, and young people. There will be artist reflections, conversations about curatorial approaches to working with historic and contemporary
art, examples of approaches to youth participation, digital engagement discussions and perspectives on project legacy.
Speakers include the artist Marcus Coates; Karen Eslea, Head of Learning & Visitor Experience at Turner Contemporary; Lisa Beauchamp, Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at Birmingham
Art Gallery; Robin Baillie, Senior Outreach Manager at Scottish National Portrait Gallery; Madeleine Kennedy, Art Exhibitions Officer at the Laing Art Gallery; artist Anthony Luvera and project participants.
