Hi All,

In 2000 John Ely (lead author) wrote A taxonomy of generic clinical questions: classification study.  In this the authors found:

"Clinical questions in primary care can be categorised into a limited number of generic types. A moderate degree of interrater reliability was achieved with the taxonomy developed in this study. The taxonomy may enhance our understanding of doctors' information needs and improve our ability to meet those needs.

Is anyone aware of any similar work in commissioning services or in policy makers?

The reason for asking is that the project I'm involved in is exploring ways to improve decision making in these areas and an initial step is trying to understand what the decisions look like in these areas!

Best wishes

jon
