Following the unprecedented success of the ICHG London, HGRG is delighted to announce that it has encouraged and enabled the creation of a new bursary grant fund to support scholars’ attendance at the 17th International Conference of Historical Geographers: http://ichg2018.uw.edu.pl

Grants up to a maximum of £1,500 will be available to successful applicants to attend the International Conference of Historical Geography to be held in Warsaw, Poland, 15-20 July 2018.

The application form can be downloaded from the HGRG website:   https://hgrg.org.uk/grants-and-prizes/

Eligible applicants include:

1. Academic participants from under-represented areas (especially those resident in Africa, South Asia, South America, Central America and the Caribbean).

2. Students working towards a doctoral degree.

3. Post-doctoral early career researchers within five years of completion of the doctoral degree (or longer for those who have had one or more distinct career breaks resulting from a period of maternity or other family leave, family commitments, illness, or other exceptional circumstances).

4. Low-income participants with no other source of funding.

The awards can be used to cover:

·       Conference fee

·       Accommodation and Subsistence

·       Transport

·       Conference Dinner

·       Mid-conference study visits and fieldtrips (see http://ichg2018.uw.edu.pl/excursions/ )

Applicants are expected to evidence a thorough investigation of other obvious sources of funding in their applications and to indicate matched sources of funding that is available. To take up the award (though not to apply for it), successful applicants must:

1.     Have had their paper accepted for the conference

2.     Book their own travel, accommodation and insurance
