INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE - UNIVERSITY OF NOTTINGHAM

14-16 SEPTEMBER 2017

THE ARCHAEOLOGY OF THE SPANISH CIVIL WAR: Searching for Federico Garcia Lorca and Shaping the Memory Debate in Spain


This conference brings together academics who work in the areas of political violence and historical memory, archaeologists who work on Civil War sites, including the team that carried out the recent search for the mass grave containing the body of Federico García Lorca and three further victims. There will also be archaeologists presenting community based warscape projects in Galicia, Catalonia and the Levante. Spanish journalists who report on matters relating to historical memory, and representatives of four of Spain’s national political parties will also be taking part.

The Plenary session talk will be presented by Paul Preston on Thursday 14 September

All are welcome!

The conference will start at 9:30 on Thursday 14 September (Room C7 Trent Building).

There will be presentations in both Spanish and English.
