We have a vacancy within Cumbria County Council for a professionally qualified Records Manager.

Records Manager  - permanent position (reference: PG6686)
Salary: £27,668 - £28,485 (level A-B: starting at level A, and progressing to level B after a 6 month successful probation period)

Location: Carlisle, Cumbria. There are 3 main sites in Carlisle, but the post holder is expected to be able to travel independently to other Council sites in Cumbria if required.

Hours: 37 hours per week (and the Council operates a flexi time scheme).

Details of the job: The Records Management Service is looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Records Manager to help run and develop the service.  

There are 3 main areas of the job:
1.	Helping to run 3 Record Centres: including supervising staff (Digitisation and Records Clerks), writing procedures, answering enquiries, and resolving issues. As well as accessioning and disposals work.
2.	Council projects: such as assisting with managing the Digital Mailroom, working on implementing an EDRMS across the Council, digitising records, and office rationalisation. 
3.	Contributing to Records Management policies and procedures, and providing communications / training / advice on Records Management to Council staff: including revising the Corporate Retention and Disposal Schedule, answering retention and Records Management enquiries, visiting departments, and strands of work to comply with the General Data Protection Regulations.

We are looking for someone with:
•	An appropriate degree and post-graduate qualification in Archives or Records Management.
•	Practical experience of running a Records Centre; including giving advice.
•	Knowledge of electronic Records Management and the wider environment (standards and relevant legislation).
•	Accuracy, consistency, and attention to detail. As well as ability to work as part of a small team, managing your time effectively.

Carlisle is an historic city on the edge of the Lake District and on the path of Hadrian's Wall; as well as being only 3 hours from London, and 1.5 hours from Newcastle, Glasgow or Edinburgh. It is also within easy reach of other stunning areas like Scotland’s southern coast, the Yorkshire Dales, and the Northumbria coast.
