Dear museum educators and practitioners,


I am Xinyue Qi, a student from Museums and Galleries in Education MA course with UCL, and I am student of Caroline Marcus. I am currently doing my dissertation on the topic of adult haptic learning. I would like to explore how effective object handling are with adult groups , and if  it is as effective as to school -age students/seniors/disabled groups.


It would be very very helpful if I could hear the thoughts and voices from you, so I am sending out the following questions:


  1.  Do you think it is true that generally there are more object handling leaning sessions designed for school age children, seniors and disabled groups rather than adults group?
  2.  If yes, what do you think the reasons are for this situation?
  3.  Do you know any handling session which is especially designed for adult groups?
  4.  Do you think the handling boxes designed for school age children could also be used for adult learners? Are there any adjustments you think need to make to fit for adult learners?
  5.  In your opinion (from the perspective of an adult visitor, or a museum educator) what would you expect from the handling session / what would you put into consideration when designing an object handling learning session for adults?

Your answers and voices will be super helpful and meaningful for my dissertation, I'm really looking forward to hear from you. As return I will gather all the answers I collected and make it into a report and share with you.
