Position description 
The Institute for Health and Social Policy, Faculty of Medicine and the Department of Political Science, Faculty of Arts, invites applications for a full-time position as an Associate Professor of Health and Social Policy. [Contract Academic Staff, ranked].

This is a 2 year contractual position. McGill University is one of Canada’s leading universities, and both the Institute for Health and Social Policy and the Department of Political Science are home to a diverse group of faculty with expertise and international standing in advanced research and training methods. 

Job Duties 
The successful candidate will carry out an independent program of research at the Institute for Health and Social Policy in the general area of mental health and will be expected to take an active part in the research and training activities of the Institute. The successful candidate will be expected to establish contacts and collaborations with research teams at McGill working in this area and have the potential to innovate in areas such as transcultural psychiatry. The successful candidate will teach three courses a year in the Department of Political Science in the Faculty of Arts in the areas of comparative health policy, comparative politics of migrant and refugee populations in Europe and North America, and Mediterranean politics, notably Turkish politics. 

Qualifications and Education requirements 
Candidates must have a PhD in political science or public policy, with special expertise in the political and psycho-social correlates of migrant and refugee populations. Necessary qualifications for the position include evidence of scholarship, research productivity and potential as demonstrated by publications and research grants, and a strong commitment to excellence in teaching. Priority will be given to candidates conducting research on the health needs, in particular the mental health needs, of resettled refugees.
