Hi All

James has asked me to attach a report I have written which looks into the availability of ESOL in the North East (specifically for Syrians on resettlement schemes) and the barriers that face learners to learn English and integrate.

I hope you find it interesting. If anyone has any comments on the report I’d be interested to hear them. I’m continuing my work for the next few months and am primarily supporting local authorities who are resettling Syrians to establish effective ESOL provision. I will submit further findings at the end of this next phase and I’d really like to have an emphasis on integration. My position is funded by the Home Office and their focus in on the integration of the resettled families.

With many thanks.
