With a focus on recent global outbreaks such as Ebola and Zika virus, we will explore issues of preparedness, detection and response. How can statistical methods make best use of the wealth of surveillance system data? How can resource allocation priorities be assessed? And how do these efforts impact the affected communities on the ground?
