Dear colleagues,

there is an opening for a research fellow with experience in SPM in structural MRI (T1, T2) who is interested in automatic detection and characterization of lesions in structural MRI. The 2-years position is in the Department of Nuclear Medicine, Center for Radiology and Endoscopy, of the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE), Hamburg, Germany. Neuroscience from the molecular level to clinical application is a key research area at UKE. Earliest start of the position is August 15, 2017.

Responsibilities: The main focus of the position is on the development, implementation and validation of an SPM-based processing pipeline for automatic detection and characterization (localization, volume, shape) of hypointense lesions (‘black holes’, BH) in T1-weighted MRI commonly seen in patients with multiple sclerosis, and to characterize the change of BH load in follow-up MRI.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Expertise in image processing (stereotactical normalization, segmentation, VBM…) of structural MRI using SPM and other common image analysis packages, preferably FSL.  Expertise in scientific programming using Matlab.

Minimum Education/Training Requirements:  MD or PhD in physics, bioengineering, psychology, statistics, or related scientific discipline.

Salary: Gross salary between 45.600 and 53.000 € per year (full time E13)

Application Instructions: If interested please send an email including CV to Ralph Buchert ([log in to unmask]).

With very best wishes,
