Hi Sophia,
The short answer it, yes I hope there will be in the next few months! At the moment we’re asking for input on which of these ideas and themes people think
are priorities for science engagement – so it’s still at the scoping stage really.
I’m very happy to discuss this work in more detail as it develops, so feel free to contact me and arrange a chat (same goes for anyone on this list!)
Thanks!
Clio

Hi,
This is useful (and encouraging!) to see. Pragmatically, my first thought was, 'Parenting Science Gang does loads of these things, I should share it with our participants, so they can see that we aren't just some crazy project, but other
people also think this kind of thing is important.' But I don't think our random group of parents are mostly going to read an 8 page PDF. Is there a more public-facing summary?
Cheers,
Sophia

Last month the British Science Association invited senior leaders from a range of organisations across the UK to a one-off event. ‘Leading science engagement in a changing world’ was hosted by Royal Society of Chemistry, and was supported by the Institute of Physics and the Wellcome Trust. The aim was to provide a space for honest, open dialogue particularly around the issues of diversity, evidence, and strategic direction for science engagement.
You can find a summary of the discussions and initial ideas from ‘Leading science engagement in a changing world’ on our website here: https://www.britishscienceassociation.org/supporting-science-communicators Going forward, we’re keen for the BSA’s work in this area to be informed by anyone working in science engagement or related fields.
In particular, we’d be really interested to hear:
Which of these ideas and issues stand out to you? Would you like to help take an idea forward?
What are you and your collaborators already working on?
What would you like to see more of?
