Dear Marie

The problem with Nielsen ISBNs is their cost (£89 each), unless your Trust is planning to buy them in a batch. The ipubnet site at least offers a slightly reduced option (£15 for one ISBN plus £15 to produce the image).

Another option is to use a UPC/EAN barcode which are more easily obtainable and typically cost under £10 each. These barcodes are acceptable on sites like Amazon as alternatives to ISBNs.

However, given that many publications no longer have ISBNs, does your Trust's booklet really need one?

Kind regards

John

Subject: Obtaining and ISBN

Hi

Our head of procurement has asked me about obtaining an ISBN for a booklet the Trust has produced. I have found some information on http://www.ipubnet.co.uk/buy-isbn-numbers/ but wondered if this is a legitimate site - or does someone know the easiest way of getting one?

Many thanks
Marie
