“Our Causewayside building in Edinburgh is currently being renewed. As part of this work, the Maps Reading Room will move within the building to a location adjacent to the public entrance on Salisbury Place and will be closed on Thursday 7 September, to facilitate this move.

The new Maps Reading Room will be open to readers from Monday 11 September. To coincide with this move, we are introducing an appointment system for consulting maps. This will allow us to extend the current 3-day opening pattern to Monday to Thursday each week.
