CHARTING A CAREER PATH: SHARING THE LEARNING AND LESSONS 

2nd – 3rd November 2017, Centre for Urban and Regional Development Studies, Newcastle University, UK

Abstract submission deadline: 17th August 2017

 

This conference aims to provide students and early career researchers opportunities to present their work, receive feedback, network, collaborate and socialise with others working in regional studies and related fields. Participants will receive invaluable feedback, new ideas and will learn how to strategically develop and enhance their profiles for career progression.

 

 The conference will bring together a range of international participants from different disciplines to present and debate their work in a welcoming, supportive and stimulating environment. Participants will be able to enrich their engagement with contemporary research in the field and share the learning and lessons on charting a career path in the context of changes in the academic landscape and labour market in institutional and funding terms.

2017 Student and Early Career Conference Walking Tour Thursday 2nd November 2017, 10:00-11:30, Meeting place TBC

 

Explore Newcastle upon Tyne, one of the most vibrant cities in the UK. From Stephenson’s Rocket to Electric Vehicles: a tour of pivotal moments in urban change that have shaped Newcastle over the last 200 years.

This tour will be led by one of the UK's leading authorities on place and policy, urban planning, urban geography, land use, historic and contemporary urban change, and community participation in places: Professor Mark Tewdwr-Jones, Director of Newcastle City Futures and Chair of Town Planning, Newcastle University.
