Job Description
The Department of Sociology is seeking to appoint a Temporary Lecturer from 1 October 2017, for a period of one year. The Department
is looking for a lecturer in Sociology with expertise in the study of social inequalities. This is an exceptional o
pportunity to join a vibrant and growing department at Cambridge.
The successful candidate will have experience of teaching at undergraduate l
evel and will be expected to contribute to the teaching of specific areas within the HSPS Tripos, in particular in the area of social inequalities. They will also be expected to play a role
in the Politics and Inequalities research cluster within the Department.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate a willingness and ability to contribute to the continued growth of the Department, and possess a flexible approach to teaching and administrative duties. Applicants
will be assessed on their ability to contribute to the delivery of the Department's core teaching.
Candidates will need to show evidence of the following qualifications, skills and experience:
· A doctorate in a relevant subject area (or clear evidence that completion of such a doctorate is imminent);
· Evidence of ability to engage in internationally recognised high-level research in chosen subject area, with publications and participation in scholarly activity commensurate with stage of
career;
· Evidence of ability to teach the subject effectively, and at all relevant levels;
· Ability to engage and enthuse students and colleagues in their research area
· Ability to play an effective role in the life and work of the Department
