Dear all,

Can I ask what labs do about on-call and weekend work for clinical scientists?

For on-call, do people follow on-call payments in A4C based on frequency, or do you have a local agreement? Do you get extra if you are doing on-call work for more than one site (e.g a hub lab and a spoke lab)?

What grade of staff do you have on-call? If someone does not have full FRCPath then is there a consultant/person with full FRCPath backing them up (being on-call for the on-call as it were).

Do you have clear definitions as to what you can and can’t get phoned about? If so what?

For weekend work is that factored into your normal working week (e.g. you have a shift system) or do you get paid overtime or get ToiL for it? Or are you just expected to work weekends as and when required with no remuneration?

Is there a college or ACB guideline on this kind of stuff?

Thanks,

Simon
