Hi, everyone

My friend and Master-student Selin Aran is trying to find PhD-programs and scholarships for 2018. Do you know a PhD program that would be a good fit and offers scholarships? She mainly considers programs in Europe, America & Canada.

Selin is a graduate in the Archeology and History of Art program at Koç University. At present she studies there on a full scholarship and gets a stipend as a Teaching and Research Assistant. She is focused on Ottoman photography and is currently writing a Master-thesis about how the Ottoman elite was looking with an orientalist eye at their own periphery.

She has experience and/or followed classes in cultural heritage management and museum studies, visual culture, media theory, Islamic and Ottoman art and architecture, (early) modern photography, Orientalism and has an interest in political science and attended Turkish entrepreneurship summits.

At undergraduate level, she did a major in Visual Arts and Communication Design, thus knows the Adobe Creative Suite. She also took undergraduate science classes. Because of this background she can go into digitalisation of photo collections and photo conservation as well.

Although she sees herself primarily as an academic she is interested in a combination of teaching and research with working in a museum or doing cultural heritage management.

Since AACORN is such a wonderful diverse group, I want to ask you: what international PhD-programs can Selin apply to? What programs, that you know of, might be a good fit?

Thanks,

Teike
