We here at Edinburgh also have the ability for students leadership/volunteering/peer education activities to be recognised on their Higher Education Achievement Record, alongside their academic outcomes. I think this is becoming quite common in the UK.

Hello Panos,
At the University of Liverpool they have developed a process where ‘skills’ developed through engagement in co- or extra-curricula activities are added to the HEAR transcript AND automatically added as records in their personal learning space (aka portfolio) for re-use, additional reflection, further evidencing etc.
They’ve also turned the process on its head to allow students to create records pertaining to skill development within their own ‘portfolio’ space – and then share them with the institution for validation and subsequent addition to the HEAR.
It’s a lovely process, and there’s a great team behind it. I think the best contact is probably Trish Lunt.
BTW – the CRA probably has a recording of a presentation done by Trish. SteveO may be able to help

Subject: Recognition of Professional Skills
Dear colleagues across the globe (via SEDA!)
A quick question from down under:
Do we know of Higher Education Institutions that have incorporated/embedded in the student transcripts students professional skills? In other words, apart from offering so called badges, they have included on the actual transcript a section on Professional Skills (or Citizenship) etc, so a student receives his/her academic credential but also the professional ones? If we know of such an initiative, would you be happy to share it with us?
