An
opportunity
exists
for an
outstanding
individual to provide leadership in research and teaching in Human Geography (and the allied areas of Development Studies and Environmental Studies). The successful candidate will also take a leadership role in the
activities of the Centre for Urban and Regional Studies, the University's Human Geography research group (see
http://www.newcastle.edu.au/research-and-innovation/centre/curs/about-us). The successful candidate will have a record of outstanding achievement in research and teaching in an area that complements the existing strengths in Human Geography (alternative
economic geography, cultural geographies, development geography and rural and resource geography). Demonstrated capacity to lead a research group and to generate high quality multi-disciplinary research outcomes including publishing quality research, supervising
research higher degree graduates and securing external research funding are essential.
Excellent interpersonal skills including the capacity to engage effectively with different stakeholder groups and a commitment to contributing to a collaborative high achieving culture are essential. Exposure to innovation
in learning and teaching will be an advantage.
