Dear colleagues,

The German Society of Midwifery Science (Deutsche Gesellschaft für
Hebammenwissenschaft e.V. - DGHWi) invites you to participate in, and
attend, the

*4th International Conference on February 16, 2018 (10:30 am - 5:00 pm)
focussing on 'The academic midwife – practice and science'.*

The _*call for abstracts*_ for presentations and poster presentations
_ends on__*August 31, 2017*_.

For filing an abstract please use the form available on the DGHWi
website: _https://www.dghwi.de/index.php/4th-international-conference_

The 4th International Conference provides a framework for professional
exchange and *networking of midwives in the European community*.
Therefore, we welcome contributions on research projects, educational
programmes and their evaluation, as well as practice/model projects
within the realm of midwifery. We are most interested in your
contributions as in Germany, where since 2008 only a few universities of
applied sciences offered Bachelor degree programmes, midwifery education
will be offered nationally on an academic level (only), starting in 2020.

The conference's*keynote speaker *is Professor Cecily Begley from
Ireland, who will share her many years of experience with bachelor and
master degree study programmes, nationally and overseas. She holds the
Chair of Nursing and Midwifery in Trinity College Dublin, Ireland.

_Please note_: The conference will be conducted in English and German.
All oral presentations will be *simultaneously translated from German
into English and from English into German*. _Presentations and poster
presentations may be held in English or German_.

The conference venue is the Katholische Hochschule Mainz (Catholic
University of Applied Sciences Mainz) in D-55122 Mainz (Germany), which
is close to the city of Frankfurt/Main and Frankfurt airport.

Any person needing assistance (e.g. to figure out your bearings) during
her/his stay in Germany will be assisted by a buddy.

For more information please refer to the attached flyer. For any kind of
questions, feel free to contact Maren Ohlde or Sonja Lindic of the
organisation team per email: [log in to unmask]

Please forward this invitation to midwives, midwifery researchers and
educators of your country's universities and colleges, or other persons
who might be interested.

We look forward to welcoming you!

Kind regards,

/Gertrud Ayerle/

for the Board of the German Society of Midwifery Science
