One of the largest events in the UK LIS calendar - the CILIP Conference (5-6 July, Manchester) - is just under a month away. The conference will celebrate the rich array of sectors where information professionals work, emphasise the issues that bring them together and underlines the importance of the work they do.

Here is quick reminder of what you can expect.

-       Keynote speakers – Dr Carla Hayden, 14th Librarian of Congress and Professor Luciano Floridi, Professor of Philosophy and Ethics of Information at the University of Oxford

-       Workshops, seminars and high-level briefings will cover themes ranging from copyright to the future of libraries, human rights to information literacy, with a breadth of subjects and details to ensure delegates will find a strong business case for attending.

-       Speakers and organisations include Ian Anstice (Public Libraries News), National Literacy Trust, NHS England, KPMG, Arup, Network Rail, Salil Tripathi (Institute for Human Rights and Business), Lucy Crompton-Reid (Wikimedia UK), School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, Caroline Brazier (British Library)

-       Creative Hub – a series of sessions run by Manchester Central Libraries which will consider how the Arts, design and thinking creatively can engage younger users and the wider community.

-       Your Career, sponsored by Information School University of Sheffield, will give delegates some thinking space – time to reflect on personal development, how we present ourselves and how skills can be transferred to other sectors.

-       Exhibition – meet face-to-face with suppliers who will be demonstrating their services and offering conference discounts.

-       Network at the drinks reception at the Museum of Science and Industry.

Organisations can get 50% off every fourth delegate place booked.
