Dear colleagues,

Please disseminate to interested colleagues as appropriate.

1)    Last call: registration is closing for the Celtic Knot: Wikipedia Language Conference.

The Celtic Knot: Wikipedia Language Conference The main objective for this full day conference at the University of Edinburgh on 6 July is the coming together of those working to support Celtic and Indigenous Languages in the same room at same time; strengthening the bonds into a 'knot' and leading into action. Guest speakers from all across Europe will be joining us to showcase and discuss a range of exciting open education, open data and open knowledge initiatives. Registration for this event closes 27th June so don’t delay in booking your place.

2)    The Europeana 1914-18 project

·       Today marks 100 years since the WW1 poet Wilfred Owen arrived in Edinburgh. As part of a joint-effort with Europeana, Wikimedia UK is sharing freely licensed materials related to the First World War as part of its 1914-18 project: “to demonstrate the diverse, innovative, and high-quality ways that this important period of Europe's history can be understood through open-access heritage.

·       As part of the process of creating and disseminating knowledge, Wikimedia UK is asking the university for any WW1 resources which might be released under an open licence. The Wikimedia projects encompass Wikipedia, but also an image library, an open access database, collections of out of copyright texts, and open educational resources. If you have access to appropriate resources and would be willing to share, please contact Richard Nevell ([log in to unmask])
