Applications are invited for the one-year fixed post of Teaching Associate in Modern German Studies, specialising in post-1945 literature and culture of the German-speaking world. The Faculty would additionally welcome expertise in one or more of the following areas: German-language literature, culture, and thought since 1900; film studies; intercultural studies; 21st-century literature and/or culture.

Candidates will be educated to degree level, normally with a PhD in a relevant field and a record of research and publication in post-1945 literature and culture of the German-speaking world. Preference is likely to be given to candidates who have experience of giving lectures and seminars to undergraduate students and have prior experience of developing teaching material for lectures and seminars. The post is based in the Faculty of Modern and Medieval Languages, in the city of Cambridge.

The successful candidate will be required to give lectures, seminars and tutorials to undergraduate students, to contribute to the teaching of the German language, and to supervise MPhil students in the Faculty of Modern and Medieval Languages. They will be expected to assist in the setting and marking of undergraduate examinations, and to undertake administrative duties as necessary.

The post is full-time for a fixed period of one year. The post-holder will be entitled to join the Universities Superannuation Pension Scheme.
