You will fulfil a key role, designing and building statistical palaeomagnetic
field models, within an outstanding multidisciplinary team to include palaeomagnetists and dynamo modellers. You should have experience of modelling geophysical datasets and be keen to work at the interface between palaeomagnetism and numerical geodynamo modelling
to improve our understanding of the deep Earth. Experience of working with palaeomagnetic data, geomagnetic data, and/or geodynamo simulation outputs is preferred but is not essential. Some expertise in computer programming and the use of spherical harmonic
analysis is vital. You should have (or be about to obtain) a PhD in geophysics or a related field. The post is funded by the Leverhulme Research Leadership Award “Shaping the Earth: Defining planetary evolution using palaeomagnetism” and is available for 3
years in the first instance with a possibility of extension. |
