Hello everyone,

Registration is now open for the Petrochronology workshop that will be held prior to the GSA meeting in Seattle this year. The workshop runs all day Friday, Oct 20 through mid-day Saturday, Oct 21. The GSA meeting runs Oct 22-25.

Information about the workshop is at:
http://community.geosociety.org/gsa2017/science-careers/courses <http://community.geosociety.org/gsa2017/science-careers/courses>
Look for workshop #508 in Friday-Saturday courses.

To attend the workshop, you have to register for the GSA meeting.

The workshop cost for professionals is $135. The cost for students is $25. Students traveling from outside the Seattle area will receive $250 to defray hotel costs to attend (thank you NSF!).

The Geochemical Society is also providing 4 $500 travel scholarships for students. There’s a bit more information about that on the petrochronology website for the meeting:

Basically I’ll be looking for applications that include a 1/2 page statement of research interests and funding sources and a current CV. This will allow me to weigh financial and research needs.

Last, don’t forget that GSA can provide some support for student volunteers during the regular meeting. So that’s another avenue for students to defray some of their costs to attend the meeting.

Please pass this message along to any interested parties.

Thanks,

Matt
