Dear list members,

some of you might be interested in Fata Morgana Web (http://www.fatamorganaweb.unical.it), the new online and peer-reviewed weekly journal devoted to the critique of present-time images (films, tv series, performances, exhibitions). Please find below a journal's brief description and its scientific aims.
Fata Morgana Web originates from the ten-year experience of the journal Fata Morgana. Quarterly of film and visual studies, edited by Roberto De Gaetano. If the journal is the place for a theoretical thought on cinema and images, the web version is where a critical practice focused on the singularity of the works takes shape.Fata Morgana Web is a space of reflection on the present devoted to film and literature, theatre and philosophy, photography and digital media. Our contemporaneity, marked by reproducibility and digital circulation, streams and environments, has in many ways eluded the virtues of criticism and of the power of the art-work. It is therefore necessary to put forward discourses and practices on the works and texts that surround us, in order to understand what kind of shaping of the sensible they operate, what kind of images of the world they bring back to us.
