I have just had a conversation with a member of staff in our general office who says she's been told by our photocopier rep that we need to pay for our copiers to be "cleaned" as they store data and we might be breaching the DP act if we don't do this

I am really suspicious - he says the machines store information as digital binary images and for a premium clean they would like £250

This sees completely ridiculous to me and I personally wasn't aware the copier stored any data of ours for any length of time

Obviously I need to dig a bit deeper into this but I just wondered whether any of you have come across this before ?

Kind Regards
