The Department of Psychological Sciences is seeking high achieving early and mid-career researchers to enhance (Grade 8) or lead (Grade 9) on theoretically-driven translational and research applied to health within the Department. You should have a strong record of internationally excellent peer reviewed outputs (Grade 8 and 9), significant grant income generation (Grade 9), leadership at research group level (Grade 9) and research activity aligned with the Institute¿s research strengths and growth areas. The Department is particularly keen to recruit talented individuals to the Addiction, Appetite and Obesity, Pain (within the Perception group) and the Psychology of Healthcare groups. The interests of these research groups include (but are not limited to) Alcohol, Clinical Communication and Decision-Making, Obesity, Pain and Psycho-oncology and Clinical Trials Methodology. Applications are particularly welcome from individuals with expertise in (1) behavioural sciences aligned to health and/or (2) psychological processes in physical health including impact on mental health, and who bring experience of research in health settings to develop and implement complex interventions, clinical trials, multi-methods studies and/or evidence synthesis. The posts will strengthen links between the Department of Psychological Sciences and the Department of Health Services Research. Exceptional candidates with interests and experience in other areas may be considered, provided that they can demonstrate that they could complement and strengthen activity in any one of our eight research groups. You are encouraged to speak directly with the research group co-ordinators listed on the Department¿s website. The posts are designed to diversify and maintain the high quality of our psychology research portfolio. IPHS staff on Teaching and Research contracts deliver teaching and the successful applicants will contribute to teaching programmes in psychology or health. Reflecting university policy, you will also acquire an appropriate teaching qualification in the next few years, if not already attained. PhD in an area relevant to psychology/behavioural science/ or a Professional Doctorate (e.g. Clinical, Forensic or Health Psychology).
