Mae Gwasanaeth Archifau Sir Ddinbych yn hynod gyffrous i gyhoeddi ein bod wedi sicrhau Dyfarniad Adnoddau Ymchwil o £130,000 gan Wellcome ar gyfer ein Casgliad Ysbyty Gogledd Cymru. Bydd y grant hwn yn cefnogi prosiect 2 flynedd i'n galluogi i gyflogi tri phrosiect i restru, cadw, a chreu rhestr ar-lein ar gyfer y casgliad unigryw hwn. Ysbyty Gogledd Cymru oedd y prif sefydliad yng Ngogledd Cymru a oedd yn gofalu am y rhai a oedd yn dioddef o salwch meddwl am bron i 150 o flynyddoedd, agorodd yn Hydref 1848 a chau yn 1995. Mae'r cofnodion yn adnodd hanfodol ar gyfer bobl broffesiynol academaidd a meddygol i gofnodi datblygiad o ofal a thriniaeth seiciatrig sefydliadol yn ystod cyfnod eithriadol o arloesol o ran triniaethau iechyd meddwl, ond hefyd o ddiddordeb mawr i'n defnyddwyr cyffredinol. Byddwn yn dechrau recriwtio ar gyfer y swyddi ym mis Gorffennaf, a bydd y prosiect yn dechrau ym mis Hydref. This grant will support a 2 year project enabling us to employ three project staff to catalogue, conserve, and create an online catalogue for this unique collection. The North Wales Hospital was the main institution in North Wales for the care of the mentally ill for almost 150 years, opening in October 1848 and closing in 1995. The records are a vital resource for academics and medical professionals in tracking the development of institutional psychiatric care and treatment during an exceptional period of innovation in mental health treatments, but is also of great interest to our general users. We will begin recruitment for the posts in July and the project will start in October. We will be posting regular project updates and document highlights on our blog and Facebook pages.
