The deadline for submissions of abstracts is 30 June. http://saeraconference.co.za/call-for-papers/ Once again, we will be holding a Self-Reflexive Research Methodologies Special Interest Group (SIG) Seminar. This will be a 2.5 hour slot. I been having discussions with SIG members about how we might make good use of this slot (in terms of inclusivity of as many interested presenters as possible, in terms of making time for interaction and discussion, and in terms of responding to the conference theme). We have decided to frame our SIG seminar as a poetic performance. Instead of asking for conventional abstracts for the seminar, we invite interested presenters to respond (either individually or in pairs/groups) to a prompt (“Reimagining Education through Poetic Inquiry….” ) in the form of a short (not more than 3 stanza) poem (in any poetic format). This should be accompanied by a visual image to illustrate the poem, and a 200-300 word reflection on what the poem says and why it is worth saying. Then our seminar will take the form of performance of the poems and an interactive discussion in response to the performance (which we might video record to share with those who cannot make it to the seminar). In this way we will be performing poetics as well as producing poetic research. We are planning also to create a booklet of the poems, visual images and 200-300 word reflections. The deadline for submitting your poem, visual image and 200-300 word reflection to me will be Monday 13 June. (This will allow time to create a composite proposal for the SIG session to be submitted to the conference organisers).
