Within Wholesale and Ventures is the Marketing and IOT unit, which uses expertise to champion innovation and deliver BT’s IOT strategy amongst other things. The BT Big Data team sits within the Marketing and IOT unit, and is responsible to create and drive a new revenue line through the monetisation of BT’s data assets.Monetising telecoms and IoT data is a fairly new concept that began to emerge as a small trend globally over the past few years. Currently there are only a handful of operators working in this area. BT Big Data has been leading the way in terms of the applications of mobile data. The challenge is to maintain this lead, developing new approaches and insight while also delivering a new revenue stream. What You’ll Do As a Principal Data Scientist within BT Big Data, you will be a senior technical lead for the data science part of the team, working closely with the commercial half of the team to understand customer needs and develop ground breaking solutions to address those needs. Here you will: Pitch ideas, proposals and develop client relationships. Clearly and confidently present complex analytical results in a clear and simple manner to key stakeholders and clients. Conceptualise and develop new analytical algorithms and products using various statistical methods. Build and deliver analytical solutions by analysing large and complex data sets using multiple technologies (R, SQL, Big Query, Cloud Services, Netezza DBMS, Hadoop). Visualise and deliver analytical results in insightful, interesting and interactive ways using various technologies ( Powerpoint, Qlikview, R, HMTL, Javascript, Tableau, other). Proactively investigate and discover new techniques, technologies and data sources to enhance BT Big Data capabilities. Drive BT Big Data product strategy.
