There must be a portable pressure gauge available for such things. If you don't have access to one I'll be happy to help. Unfortunately I work with 5-30L reactors and only the 20-30L reactors have pressure gauges on them. If you'd like to supply a hundred litres of each brand you're interested in testing, I'll give you a solid number for their headspace pressure.

Aside from purely subjective tasting, does anyone have any good ideas on how to quantify the fizz/carbonation within a bottled/canned ale? The most obvious method would be to put a balloon over the top of a bottle, although I dare say this will yield very meaningful results…
