You or your contacts may be interested to know that a call for tenders has been published on Sell 2 Wales titled – Abergavenny Castle Archaeology Project 2017.
The work is as follows:
Provision of archaeological assessment and report for area at Abergavenny Castle.
Monmouthshire County Council is looking at developing the visitor space at Abergavenny Castle. One option
is by providing a permanent structure to hold events. To consider this further there is a need for a comprehensive survey of the site identifying all elements of the historic use and probable survival buried remains.
We are requesting an archaeological study, sufficient in detail to determine the effects of any proposed
development scheme on the historical and archaeological resource and to present methodologies for future investigation of the site. In particular the assessment should provide enough information to inform the design of any proposed building, including the
design of foundations.
