Hi Mark
Thank you for sending round Rahul's compassionate and thoughtful email.
It has occurred to me and I am sure to others on the list, that this message should have a much wider circulation. I imagine that most if not all of our group are in total sympathy with the views expressed. Would it be possible perhaps with Rahul's permission
to send this email to the UCU for circulation?
Best wishes to all
Ronni

I am sure members of the List will appreciate the strains and stresses affecting all in the Manchester area, as well as any who have children of an age to appreciate the style of music and event! Also many of our Muslim friends will be hurting from the suspicion
and rude words addressed to them as a group. I hope this is therefore an appropriate message to share with you all.

Hi Mark,
Hope you are well. Mark, could you please circulate this email to the group during this turbulent time up here in Manchester?
Thank you
Rahul
Dear all,
First and foremost my sincerest condolences and prayers go out to anyone that has been affected (no matter how big or small) by this week’s atrocities in Manchester. Since the event, until now and probably into bank holiday weekend and beyond, my heart is
and will be in sorrow as I try my best to acknowledge what has happened and more importantly be as active as I can to offer my support as a British Muslim to anyone that is affected or wishes to talk to me.
Islam is a peaceful and loving faith and there is no place in our society for such barbaric, inhumane, cruel and disgusting acts. These few narrow-minded individuals are hijacking the name of Islam towards their perverted unknown immoral goals and, as part
of the true Muslim community here in Manchester and across the world, I want to stand out against their actions and say “not in my name”.
Islam is not an underground cult, teaching unscrupulous ideology. Love, compassion and tolerance are at the heart of Islam and if you are curious or want to learn more – please come and see for yourself. Manchester Central Mosque will be holding a special
sermon this Friday afternoon to pay respect to all those who have lost their lives, their loved ones and to all those who have been affected. It has an open door policy every day and everyone is invited from all faiths and all backgrounds. If you have any
questions, concerns, or just need someone to talk to please come along if you are able to.
Together we are more than just different communities; we share common goals and beliefs and together we are stronger. Together we will get through this and together we will avail.
Hoping that we can all stay together as one,
Rahul
