Temporary Assignment: 9 months Marketing Assistant - June 2017 – February 2018

9am – 5pm, 3 days per week (Monday, Thursday & Friday)

Hourly rate: £11.45 (grade 4)

The assignment will be administered through the University of Cambridge’s Temporary Employment Service and the position will be based at the Fitzwilliam Museum                            

The Role

University of Cambridge Museums (UCM) is a consortium of the eight University Museums, which works in partnership with the Cambridge University Botanic Garden and other Cambridge University collections. Major Partner Museum funding from Arts Council England is enabling the consortium to transform access to the exceptional collections and research resources of the University Museums. Substantial digital innovation, high-profile exhibitions, imaginative learning programmes and effective marketing across the University museums and with wider cultural partners are reaching and benefiting audiences locally, regionally, nationally and internationally.          

Throughout 2017 the University of Cambridge Museums will deliver a season of activity to mark the UK-India Year of Culture 2017 - a programme of exhibitions, events, digital engagement, discussions, installations and more within the museums and the city of Cambridge.

The assignment will provide marketing support for the University of Cambridge Museums Marketing & Communications Coordinator, with a focus on marketing activity for the India season.

Main responsibilities

• Support the implementation of the UCM social media, including monitoring analytics reports and running targeted social media experiments
• Assist in creating social media content, keeping channels updated and looking after conversations
• Writing and uploading online content and supporting the implementation of an SEO strategy
• Assist in managing a PR contact database and publicity distribution list, distributing marketing materials as required
• Administrative and practical support for the UCM Marketing & Communications Coordinator
• Assist in the management of the UCM photo database
