Hello,
an opportunity for small and medium-sized enterprises in England, interested in working with museums, heritage and culture, please share with anyone who might be interested to explore how games can help to address museum challenges. Deadline 12th May 2017
A regional development project led by Anglia Ruskin University
and co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund.
The project's aim is to support the growth of an applied games
sector in the Cambridgeshire/Peterborough region. We'll do this
by enabling connections between businesses and our talent,
expertise, facilities and grants.
A total of £1 million will be committed to help new and existing
businesses in all sectors to use games technologies and user-based
design in innovative products and services – creating applied
games and, ultimately, a new applied games sector in the region.
We’ll be there with you all the way, providing business support
from initial concept to product launch.
An exciting part
of the new REACTOR initiative, the annual Big Games Challenge
will take on the challenges of a particular sector and explore
the ways that applied gaming could be used either to
problem-solve, or to enhance experiences.
The theme for the
Big Games Challenge 2017 is: Exploring local culture
and heritage. Consider the different challenges
and frustrations that people face, either as visitors to local
sites of interest, or hospitality sector workers, or indeed as
local residents; what could be done through applied gaming to
solve some of these issues, or to revolutionise the
experiences of each of these groups?
Co-funded by the
European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), REACTOR has been
devised to support the growth of an applied games sector in
the Greater Cambridge Greater Peterborough LEP area. Sole
traders (registered as a business), SMEs (enterprises which
employ fewer than 250 persons and which have an annual
turnover not exceeding €50million, and/or an annual balance
sheet total not exceeding €43million) and social enterprises
(if engaged in economic activity) are invited to participate
in the challenge.
Great ideas!
Concepts can be based on any local heritage or cultural theme,
and the games-based solution could be used in either the
physical or virtual space.
Through the
challenge, REACTOR will facilitate connections between
businesses and our talent, expertise, and facilities.
Participants are also able to access European funded
activities and support, to help take initial concepts all the
way through to being ready to launch, including: advice from
some of the best games makers and sector specialists; small
match funded grants; and to make use of the REACTOR games
publishing house.
