Apologies for cross-posting but thought this might be of interest.

Leading UK hearing loss charity Hearing Link and the Master of the Worshipful Company of Feltmakers on behalf of the Feltmakers’ Charitable Foundation are hosting this ground-breaking event to:

provide insight into the prevalence and impact of hearing loss at work, in institutional environments and HEIs, and

enable businesses and institutions to design inclusive strategies that will identify, support and retain experienced and valued talent, teaching staff and students whose hearing is impacting their performance.

demonstrate some of the solutions (technological and behavioural) that improve hearing in the workplace or campus.

Let's Listen will tackle the topic “Improving hearing in the workplace", exploring:

-              The impact of hearing loss on employees’ performance and health

-              Why it’s vital for businesses and institutions to proactively address hearing issues in the workplace and campus

-              Available technologies, including customer-facing technology, to tackle hearing loss at work and campus and improve communications

-              Coping strategies and solutions that individuals and organisations can develop.

This event is essential for anyone who manages skilled talent, teaches at an institution or is in charge of disability and inclusion at a University or HEI and who is concerned to optimise the productivity of their staff and students alike. It will also offer invaluable information and practical demonstrations to individuals who are becoming aware of changes in their own hearing.

This isn't charity: it's business sense.

Across London, we are facing a period of unprecedented change. Now, more than ever, it’s essential to respond to your employees, teaching staff and students changing needs, to:

retain your most experienced talent

-              provide an inclusive learning environment

-              get the most out of your staff and students, enabling them to reach their full potential

-              enhance accessibility and inclusivity

-              gain confidence in hiring and dealing with people with hearing loss

-              meet government regulations

-              save time and money on recruiting and training new staff

-              reduce risks.

UK’s leading hearing industry and accessibility specialists, such as BT, Lipreading Practice, Gordon Morris and Phonak, GN ReSound, UK Hearing Care, Medico Testing Solutions and Conversor, will exhibit and run workshops to explore simple, inexpensive solutions to manage hearing loss at work, including personal and group hearing solutions. Hearing Awareness Training and personal hearing assessments will also be available on the day.

Click here to see more information and register for the event.

Subject: 'In-house' study skills workshops/provision for students with SpLDs

Dear all,

Just a reminder that this survey is still live and we would relish input from as many institutions as possible. We are happy to share findings when we have a decent number of responses. Thank-you to those who have filled out the survey already – much appreciated.

Original message:

Here, at Manchester Metropolitan University, we have appointed two specialist study skills tutors to deliver small group study skills workshops for students with specific learning difficulties.

We are keen to find out what ‘in-house’ study skills provision other institutions offer for students with SpLDs in an effort to ensure good practice and collaborative working.

If you click on the link below there is a short survey, which we would be grateful if you could fill in.
